Welcome to Fifth Grade Science!

Students will be exploring science through investigation, discovery, and experimentation. They will learn to think like scientists, talk like scientists, read and write like scientists, and learn to defend their claims by using evidence. 

The 5th grade science curriculum focuses on the following: 

    *  The Scientific Method.                      

    *  Evolution and Genetics

    *   Earth's Weather Patterns, Systems and Structures

    *  Structures and Functions of Living Organisms

    *   Energy Conservation and Transfer

    *   Matter: Physical and Chemical Changes

    *   Forces and Motion

    *   Ecosystems

A little about me:

I have been an educator for the past 19 years. I have taught almost every elementary grade level.  Fifth grade is by far my favorite. I am originally from Fort Lauderdale, Florida. I moved to North Carolina a few years ago to be closer to family. When I am not at school or lesson planning, I enjoy woodworking, crocheting, and playing with my four-footed furbaby, Daisy.

I look forward to sharing my love of science with your child and helping to prepare them for their journey into Middle School.
