Degrees and Certifications:

Mrs. Almond

Hi, my name is Mrs. Michele Almond and I am thrilled to be your First Grade teacher for the upcoming school year.
It’s going to be a fun year full of lots of learning and new adventures. I can’t wait to see what the year has in store for
us. I want to know ALL about you, but first I’m going to tell you a few things about me.
I was born and raised in Wadesboro, NC and have two younger sisters. I graduated from Bowman Sr. High School.
After graduating I attended Appalachian State University…Go Mountaineers! I majored in Business Administration
but decided later on to return to school for my certificate in education and a new career. December 2013 I finished
my Master’s degree in elementary education from Gardner-Webb University.
This will be my thirteenth year teaching. I began my career in Asheboro, NC teaching at Guy B. Teachey Elementary
School in first grade and have loved every minute. I am very excited about being a LaFayette Eagle!
I remarried and made the move to Raleigh. My husband’s name is Dean and he is fantastic. We have actually
known each other since I was 16. We have two AMAZING sons, a BEAUTIFUL daughter, and a BEAUTIFUL
daughter-in-law. My oldest, Chuck, graduated from Appalachian State University and started his teaching career at
North East Guilford High School. He is now teaching at Asheboro High School as a Spanish teacher. He is also
working on his graduate degree through Auburn University. Awesome guy! Our middle child, Christian, also
graduated from Appalachian with a Criminal Justice degree and is an officer with the Cary PD and loves being part
of a community. In April he married his high school sweetheart, Carly, who graduated from UNC. We don’t hold
that against her though . They are pretty awesome too! Our daughter, Lindsey, also graduated from Appalachian.
She just finished receiving a master’s degree from ECU and has moved to Auburn University to work on her PHD.
We ARE a family that believes in education and are very blessed!! We also have a dog, Layla, and two fur
grandbabies that we love dearly. I really miss not being with my children all the time so I will need lots of hugs from
I am so excited to be your teacher and see how much you accomplish this year. This is going to be a fantastic
