Degrees and Certifications:

Math 1 in 8th grade covers the information taught in both 8th-grade math and Math 1, combining the two and taking it to the level needed to be prepared for Math 2 in high school.  For example, in standard 8th-grade math, students learn about solving systems of equations by graphing, but in the Math 1 standards students are expected to solve systems of equations by graphing, substitution, and elimination-therefore we include all of these methods in 8th grade Math.  In general, students learn about the real number system, working with polynomials, solving equations and inequalities, functions (linear, quadratics, and exponential), angles, and geometry related to the Pythagorean theorem.
