Degrees and Certifications:
A native of the Central San Joaquin Valley in California, Mr. Medinas attended and played Football at Merced College before transferring upstate to Sacramento where he ran Cross Country, Track & Field, won an Education Scholarship, and graduated with Honors with a degree in Physical Education. He then moved to North Carolina where he earned a Bachelors in Political Science; Social Studies Teacher Education Concentration, and a Minor in Physical Education; Emphasis in Coaching, from North Carolina State University. While at NC State he participated in intramurals, club sports, and also worked as a Personal Trainer while Managing a Corporate Fitness Facility.
Mr. Medinas started in Wake County assisting at Carroll Middle, student teaching at Apex High, and was part of the opening Staff of Southeast Raleigh High. He also volunteered at Fuller Elementary while working in the private sector before coming to Harnett Central Middle School in 2001. Spending two decades as both a Teacher and Coach, he has taught High School and Middle School Social Studies as well as Health & Physical Education. He has Coached Football, Track & Field, and Soccer while assisting with Basketball, Baseball, and Golf; he also served as Athletic Director. Extracurricular activities have been both Science and Math Olympiads, Yearbook, and Summer Trek. He is currently a Driver Education Instructor for Harnett County Schools.
When he is not teaching, Mr. Medinas enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, sports, reading, leisure time, and outdoor activities.
