HCS Beginning Teacher Program
We are committed to providing excellent, differentiated support to our beginning teachers in Harnett County Schools. We offer a variety of layered support, as outlined in the slides below. Support is available from individual schools, as well as from the district. District support is best realized through the work of our Recruitment and Retention Coaches.
Our Recruitment and Retention Coaches are available to assist new teachers in several capacities. All first-year teachers are provided a three-day orientation in August. During the orientation, professional development is conducted in areas such as classroom management, time management, and curriculum/instruction. Throughout the year, the Recruitment and Retention Coaches will work directly with all Beginning Teachers to provide differentiated support for classroom management, licensure, instructional strategies, and more.
