Media Center Hours: 7:40 am - 2:30 pm

    The mission of the Coats-Erwin School Media Center is to support and enhance the Common Core Curriculum through the use of informational resources while fostering a lifelong love of reading.  Assistance will be focused on students, faculty and staff to nurture their intellectual and educational development as effective consumers of information and technology while building a knowledge that creates self-reliance, develops critical thinking skills, and fosters collaborative learning among staff and the student body.

    The ultimate goal of the media center is to provide an educationally stimulating, accessible, and indispensable extension of the classroom that promotes 21st Century learning in an organized manner through mutual respect and collaboration.

    Media Center Procedures:

    • The CEMS Media Center will operate on a fixed/flexible checkout schedule.
    • Students will come to the media center every two weeks with their ELA class for book checkout and planned activities. 
    • Students may also visit the media center throughout the school day with permission from a teacher.
    • Students may check out two books, 1 fiction, and 1 non-fiction, provided previously checked out books are returned on time.
