Hello!
My name is Morgan Cook and I will be your AVID teacher this year at Highland Middle School. I can't wait to get to know each of you.
I am not orginigally from this area; I moved to North Carolina in 2007 from upstate New York, where I was born and raised. I grew up in a very small town, Melrose, where I went to the same school grades K-12. In fact, it was the same school my mom went to. We even had some of the same teachers! I grew up in our family home, the home my mom and her sisters and brother grew up in. While I am an only child I have a large extended family whom I am very close with.
I attended SUNY Oneonta for my undergraduate degree in childhood education. I immediately enrolled in graduate school at SUNY Albany and received a Master's degree as a Literacy Specialist. I have always enjoyed school and knew that I would want to continue my education even further. When I moved to North Carolina I received my AIG certification through UNC Pembroke and attended Campbell University where I received my School Administrative degree.
I currently live in Sanford with my husband and our cat and two dogs.
Since becoming a teacher I have learned so much from my students. Everyday my students remind me why I became a teacher. If I can make a difference in a child's life I feel I have begun to make a difference in the world. I try to teach my students more than just the curriculum. I try to teach them how to be successful in life by being a loving and caring person and how to make good life choices.
Remember, you are your child's first teacher and in order to make your child successful we need to be a team! Please don't hesitate to contact me at anytime!
Sincerely,
Morgan Cook
