Sandra Olmstead

1st Grade Teacher

My name is Sandy Olmstead and this is my 6th year at CES! I truly enjoy teaching and feel blessed to work such wonderful colleagues, families and students. CES is a special place and being able to touch lives here means the world to me. This is my 31st year of teaching. I grew up in upstate New York and while there earned a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education from the State University of New York at Fredonia. Upon graduation I relocated to sunny Savannah, Georgia and spent my first five years teaching kindergarten. When I was not enjoying the beach in my spare time, I earned a Master's degree in Elementary Education from Georgia Southern University. I am also certified to teach Academically and Intellectually Gifted students. My husband's career has taken us to a handful of locations. I taught first grade for 2 years at Camp Lejeune, NC and then moved inland to western Johnston County where I spent the next 12 years teaching both first and second grade. Our family then spent a year in Newnan, GA where I taught 4th grade. My husband's job brought us back "home" to NC almost 11 years ago and this is where we'll stay. I spent my first four years in Harnett County at Anderson Creek Primary School where I taught 2nd grade. I have a daughter, Grace, who is 20 years old and a senior at The University of Mount Olive where she is double majoring in Exercise Science & Health and PE with a minor in Coaching, and she's playing on the women's golf team. I live with my husband, Roger, and our dog, Jack. My little family is very important to me and is the light of my life! We work very hard in our classroom to become a family, as well. I look forward to working with you and your child this school year!
