Hello Readers!

I am Mrs. Gaines and I serve as the School Library Media Specialist.  It is my goal to assist all students in achieving their reading goals by not only promoting books but creating a love for reading. Research has shown that the more children read, the more they comprehend, learn, and increase their ability to communicate effectively.  Therefore, my mantra is Today's Readers Are Tomorrow's Leaders.

Parents, as a team we can mold our future leaders.  Please encourage your children to Read and Read to them!  No child is too old to be read to! Children's author, Emilie Buchwald, states it perfectly- "Children are made readers on the laps of their parents." If your home library is limited or getting dull, feel free to stop by our school library and set up a parent account, check out great books, and share the joy of reading with your children.

As a product of Harnett County Schools, I am committed to serving the needs of our community especially in the area of literacy! I received my Bachelors and Masters Degrees from East Carolina University.  I taught high school English for eight years.  This is my 19th year as an educator. I consider myself blessed to be in a profession where I can open the doors of knowledge and exploration.
