Subject: Chemistry

Education: My teaching degree is in chemistry from The University of Virginia at Wise, my secondary education certification is from North Carolina Central University, and I attended the AP Institute at Wake Forest University to obtain my initial AP certification.

Experience: This is my 26th year in education, and it is my 16th year teaching at Overhills High School. I have taught Physical Science, Standard Chemistry, Honors Chemistry, and AP Chemistry. I was the HCHS Teacher of the Year in 2004, and the OHS Teacher of the Year in 2009 and 2018. In 2017 I was also named the NC High School Science Olympiad Coach of the Year. 

Mission:  By teaching my students chemistry, I will be helping them develop academic and employability skills such as working with others to accomplish a task, problem-solving,  critical thinking, being responsible, being organized, and being able to clearly communicate thoughts when speaking or writing.
