Apparel and Textile Production I and Apparel Enterprise II
I have just over 12 years teaching experience in the area of Family and Consumer Sciences. Currently, I teach Apparel, Textiles, and Construction I and Apparel Enterprise II.
I am a veteran teacher in my 3rd year here at Overhills High School. I relocated to the Sandhills from the Hampton Roads area of Virginia almost 3 years ago and am both excited and proud to call North Carolina my "forever home."
As a FCS teacher, I strive to build a platform to assist students in their transition from high school to adulthood by providing opportunities for them to gain effective workplace readiness skills like integrity, team work, conflict resolution, diversity, creativity, and resourcefulness via project-based learning activities. Although my curriculum is centered around fashion history, design, textiles, and entrepreneurship, my avenue of instruction encourages students to be autonomous learners and excellent decision makers. There is never a day when I do not feel Blessed to have answered the call to be a teacher and mentor to our future leaders.
