Ms. Marlee Bourey

My name is Marlee Bourey and I'm a home-grown North Carolinian born to two upstate New Yorkers.  I'm usually mistaken for a "Northerner," though I've always lived here in NC.  Some of my favorite things include: the Harry Potter series, southern style food, Doctor Who, and reading.  I attended school in Wake County, and went on to earn a degree in Elementary Education from Western Carolina University.  (Go Catamounts!)  I graduated with that degree from the WCU Honors College in May of 2008.  I also have the honor of being a North Carolina Teaching Fellow, which was an excellent and prestigious scholarship program that offered me many enrichment opportunities.  I hold a Masters of Education in Instructional Technology from East Carolina University, which I obtained in December of 2016.

I've been in the classroom for 13 years now, spending 5 of those years as a classroom teacher (3rd and 4th grade), and the past 8 years as an Instructional Technology Facilitator.  My role here at LSES is an expansive one--I help plan the activities that our students do in the lab, and I help all of our teachers (and students) feel comfortable and confident using technology here at school.  I also help coach our LEGO League Team, the LSES Cougar Bots, and am one of the Battle of the Books coaches for our school, as well.  You'll usually find me buzzing around the school assisting with various tech needs, or occasionally behind my computer, responding to emails and developing professional development activities for the staff. I am happy to answer any questions, so feel free to reach out!
