Bachelors degree in Birth to Kindergarten Education May 2023: MaED in Literacy

Mrs. Kendell Carter

Hello, my name is Kendell Carter and this is my sixth year teaching at Lillington-Shawtown Elementary School. I graduated from Campbell University in 2016 with a degree in Birth-Kindergarten Education. In fall 2017, I was awarded 2017-2018 Rookie Teacher of the Year, for the Harnett Central attendance area. I am currently in graduate school at Western Carolina University working on my Masters in Education with a focus on Literacy. I grew up in Harnett County schools and currently live in Sanford, NC, with my husband, 3 year old daughter and three dogs, Rocky, Bailey and Toby. On my days off, I enjoy painting and crafting.

My classroom learning environment is fun, relaxed and engaging! Students should be prepared to learn many things this year, including sight words, counting to 100, writing words and sentences, and gaining independence in life-skills. As a classroom family, we enjoy getting back-to-the-basics and do many of the fun activities you remember from your time in kindergarten. We learn new songs, have themed snacks that go along with what we are learning, and encourage active learning.
