Welcome!  I am Mrs. Fisher. This is my 17th year at Lillington Shawtown with our SCMC students.  We are excited about working with your child and guiding him him or her through their learning experiences this year.  

We look forward to working with your child this year and sharing with you the students' excitement with their learning and the challenging new experiences as they develop new skills and their confidence in their own skills grow.  It is important to us that your child feels he or she is part of the classroom and school community.  Our classroom becomes a school family, especially since many of our students are with us for several years.  We look forward to working with you, the parents, as we collaborate to support your child throughtout the year.  

A little about me:  During the past 36 years, I have worked with students and adults with disabilities in classrooms and residential settings ranging from a K-7 combined resource & self-contained class, Junior High EC Resource, and served as the Qualified Mental Retardation Professional for a residential facility for children with disabilities. Later on, I worked as Executive Director of Cape Fear Respite and also at Southeastern MH/DD/SAS and taught at Cape Fear Community College and Fayetteville Technical Community College before taking time off from teaching to take care of my family.  After returning to work, I served as Social Worker/Director of Social Services and Admissions and Assistant Administrator for residential facilities.  Because I missed being in the classroom and working with younger students,  I returned to classroom teaching.  Since November 2005, I have been with the SCMC classroom at Lillington Shawtown, first with grades K-5 and now with grades 4-5.
