Hi! My name is Maranda Hogel and I am a first grade teacher at Lillington-Shawtown Elementary School! This is my eighth year teaching at LSES, and I love working with the students here! I attended Methodist University in Fayetteville, NC where I obtained a Bachelor's degree in History/Education. After taking a year to substitute and "find my place," I realized I loved working with elementary aged students. I extended my license to include elementary education. I obtained a Master's degree in Reading Education from East Carolina University. I had the opportunity of serving as the county's "model" first-grade teacher for a year, and I really enjoyed collaborating with other educators. I also had the opportunity to teach English in Italy in the summer of 2016, which was an awesome experience. 

I am married to my best friend and have a sweet baby boy. My husband and I love going to the beach, fishing, camping, hiking, exploring, and spending time with family! I am a huge football fan, Go Panthers! 

My favorite quote is: "A day without laughter is a day wasted" by Charlie Chaplin. This quote is a direct reflection of my classroom atmosphere. My students are always learning, but we love to laugh and have fun in the process. I try to build a relationship with each and every one of my students and hope I leave a lasting impression on their lives. Teaching is my passion, and I truly love what I do. :)
