Mrs. Lynn Young
Hello, my name is Lynn Young-Nash and I love teaching! I have been teaching in Harnett County for over 20 years. I first moved here in 1998. I taught 4th grade for two years at South Harnett Elementary. After that, I taught 4th grade for two years and 3rd grade for two years at Erwin Elementary. I came to Lillington-Shawtown Elementary in 2004 and have been here ever since! When I first came to LSES, I was a 2nd grade teacher. I taught 2nd grade for 5 years before moving into our Exceptional Children's program teaching CCR for K-5 students. I missed teaching in a regular classroom setting so much I decided to return and now am teaching wonderful 3rd graders!
I graduated from Barton College in Wilson, NC in 1998 with a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Elementary Education. I later graduated from Kaplan University with a Master's of Arts Degree in Teaching and Learning with an emphasis in Literacy and Language in 2007. Also in 2007 I earned National Board Certification in Early and Middle Childhood/Literacy: Reading-Language Arts. In the Spring of 2009, I became certified to teach exceptional children with mild to moderate disabilities.
I believe that all students have the ability to learn and will do all that I can to facilitate the learning process. I also believe that students learn in different ways. As their teacher, it is my responsibility to find the best way to teach each student and create opportunities to share their knowledge. Each student deserves to be successful and respected. In our classroom we will share successes and give respect on a daily basis.
