ABOUT ME
Hi!  My name is Melissa Lasater.  I am married and have children, though grown adults now.  I have been teaching in Harnett County Schools for over 23 years.  I was born and raised here in North Carolina. I graduated from Garner High School in Wake County and then graduated from The University of North Carolina at Charlotte with an Education degree. I am excited to get the opportunity to immerse your child in the world of mathematics and science. I strongly believe the quote "The only way to learn mathematics is to do mathematics". Students will learn standards from the common core standards for math.  Students will engage themselves in different ways to solve problems as there is no one way to a solution.   "Mathematics is the Door and Key to the Sciences".   Just as a scientist tests hypotheses, we will test different methods to solve mathematical situations.  We will be covering the state-mandated standards set forth by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction for grade 6 math.  I am here to help you and your child be successful and, together as a team, we will achieve it!
