"Whatever it takes, failure is not an option;" the meaning of this quotation is the underlying philosophy of the Peer Tutoring Program. Peer Tutoring is an intervention opportunity for any student who needs additional assistance in a course. The peer tutors are students who have at least a 3.2 GPA, who have mastered in-depth training in the tutoring process, and who have the desire, determination, and drive to support other students while working with teachers in a collaborative manner.
Peer Tutoring is a program that adheres to the philosophy, "By learning, you will teach; by teaching, you will understand." Moreover, the program lives out the thought, "People don't care how much you know until they know how much you care." Desiring to create and foster a place conducive to learning, peer tutors, with compassion, professionalism, confidentiality, flexibility, and dependability, recognize that they do have the gift and calling to make a difference in students' lives.
A retired English teacher and a former National Board Certified teacher, I share the Peer Tutoring Co-ordinator's position with Mrs. Claudette Green. We utilize many years of experience in the classroom as we engage and train eligible student tutors who serve as a major intervention resource as they implement strategies and methods to facilitate learning throughout Triton High School.

Designed by Libby Smith in the fall of 2004, the Peer Tutoring Program is an on-going, ever-changing intervention for students and staff at Triton. The program is built on the strong foundation she established as she followed her vivid vision of enabling student success.
As we look forward to the 2022-2023 school year, we ask that you consider joining us as we "begin the journey of growth today." The Peer Tutoring Program always welcomes students who meet the requirements of the course who also have a heart/desire to help others. We are constantly in need of bilingual students as well. We hope you all have a great summer break; congratulations, Class of 2022! May your future be bright and fulfilling.
