Mrs. Nordia Thomas

I am a very PASSIONATE culturally responsive educator! "Out of Many One People", is the Motto of my beautiful island Jamaica! I taught in the Cayman Islands for seven wonderful years! I met and marry the love of my life in Grand Cayman. God has blessed us with two gifted, smart, and disciplined kids, who are now teenagers. This is my fifth year at OES. In 2019, my assiduously hardworking student Matthew Beckford and I won the prestigious NC Forestry Essay Competition! George Evan's, "Every child can learn. Just not on the same day or in the same way," has guided my teaching style and methods over the years. It is my delight to empower 3rd graders to become globally rounded future leaders, life-long learners, and critical thinkers! One of my favorite quotes by Verna Myers states: "Diversity is being invited to the party. Inclusion is being asked to dance." Each day I invite my united kiddos to dance intellectually, socially, emotionally, and physically, as they develop a love for learning!
