Hi, hello, and welcome! My name is Rebecca Manning and I am your art teacher!  This is my FOURTH year at Highland and I'm THRILLED to be here!  My past students may know me as Ms. Nance, but I recently just got married in October 2021 and I changed my last name!  Don't worry, I will always still answer to Ms. Nance. :)

I was born and raised in Lee County, NC.  After graduating high school, I attended Sandhills Community College and graduated Summa Cum Laude with an Associates in Pre-Art Education.  I transferred to Appalachian State University in 2015 (GO NEERS!), and I still consider the mountains as my second home.  I graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2017 with a BFA in Art Education with a concentration in ceramics.  

A little bit about myself:  All throughout my years of school, art was my favorite subject.  I LOVE Star Wars.  I consider myself to be a nerd; I love playing video games and reading whenever I get time!  I love spending time with my husband, Jarrett, and my family.  I have 3 furbabies (my dogs), Emma, Ash, and TJ.  I love music; played flute and piccolo in middle school and in the high school marching band.  I don't travel much, but my dream destination is to visit Florence, Italy.  Some of my favorite artists are Andy Warhol, Banksy, Vincent Van Gogh, Nicoletta Ceccoli, and of course the one and only Bob Ross.
