About Me:

¡Bienvenidos a la clase de español! Soy su profesora, Señora Smith. Welcome to Spanish class! I am your teacher, Mrs. Smith. This is my 6th year teaching. I taught Middle School Spanish in Onslow County in 2005-2006 until I moved to TX. Between 2006-2016 I was a military spouse (husband served in the Marine Corps) and a stay at home mom. I also owned a part-time photography business, and I did some substitute teaching here and there as well. As my children grew older, I knew I wanted to go back into the teaching profession full-time. I worked in Special Education from 2016-2021. I made the switch to teaching Spanish again in Spring semester of 2022. I am very excited to share my passion for the Spanish language and culture.

Some fun facts about me:

I have six children. I'm a runner and run races from 5ks to 100 milers throughout the year. Running is a huge passion of mine, especially trail running. I have also travelled extensively throughout the U.S., Central America, and South America. I studied women's rights in Tegucigalpa, Honduras in 2004 and volunteered at a women's shelter there.
