Subject: Visual Arts

Welcome old and new faces to School Year 22/23. I am looking forward to starting this new school year.

A little about me,

This is my 4th year teaching at Overhills High School as the Visual Arts teacher.

Education/Experience: I attended Utah State University from 2014-2018 and graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in addition to receiving my teaching credentials. I am experienced in Ceramics and Sculpture but have been trained in Graphic Design, Photography, Painting, & Drawing. I have been part of a team creating a functional snow sculpture in addition to two other installation artworks.

I did my student teaching at Durham School of the Arts (DSA) during the Fall Semester of 2018.

Achievements: My biggest achievement is having been married for over 27 years to the same amazing woman. She has followed me around the world as I served 12 years in the Army. My wife and I have traveled to over 20 countries and 48 out of 50 states. I left the army in 2014 due to a back injury. While in college, my wife and I adopted our two energetic children. My family and I love to travel and see history instead of just reading about it.

My interests and philosophy: I love woodworking, building things, gardening, and playing a little guitar. My passion for art came from a desire to do something I felt very insecure about. When it comes to life and art, I believe two things. First is that EVERYTHING IS CONNECTED, and secondly, that everyone can draw and learn to be good at it when they learn the principles that govern the tools and mediums used to create art.
