Mrs. Alexis Heere Godinez

Welcome!  I am so excited to be the 7th grade CCR teacher at Highland Middle School. I was born and raised in Lawrence, Kansas where I graduated from Lawrence High School, then became a Jayhawk at the University of Kansas where I earned my undergraduate degree. My advenuture seeking heart then led me to live in Germany as a military spouse. I eventually moved back to Kansas and skipped over to Los Angeles, California where I lived for about eight years and earned my Master of Arts degree in Special Education at Loyola Marymount University. My husband Alex, son James, and I moved to North Carolina in January 2019 and I began teaching at Highland Middle. I am honored to be part of a military community again and support military-connected families in my classroom. In my spare time I teach yoga and meditation, and I am constantly planning our next family adventure.  In addition to my son James and husband Alex, my family includes two cats and two dogs. I am passionate about special education and I love helping my students work towards their goals and be their best selves!
