Hello, I am Ms.Rivas and I am the Music Teacher here at Johnsonville.  I was born in Junction City, Kansas but grew up here in Harnett county. I attended South Harnett Primary school grades k-3, Anderson Creek Primary school grades 4&5, Western Harnett Middle school, and Western Harnett High school, where I graduated in May 2002.  I attended UNC-Pembroke from 2002-2005 and then transferred  to Fayetteville State University. I attended FSU from 2005 until May 2009, where I graduated with a degree in music education k-12.  In September 2010, I began working in Early Childhood education and continued in that field until August of 2017, when I began working as a second grade teacher here at Johnsonville.  During the 2020-2021 school year, I stepped into my role as the general music teacher. This school year will be my 6th year teaching here at Johnsonville and I am looking forward to working with your children.

When I am not working,  I enjoy reading, spending time with my husband and our 5 children, and taking care of our many different animals. I am a member of Lee County Community Orchestra where I play second Violin. Music has always been a way for me to find an escape from everyday activities. Whether its singing or playing my violin, I feel more free when I'm doing something musical.
