Hello fellow Cougars! My name is Brooke LaVoie and I am so excited to have you in music this year!
This is my second year teaching at Lillington-Shawtown Elementary School and I am overjoyed to be a part of the community!
My passion for music began when I started playing piano in elementary school. From there, I started singing with my church choir and decided to play the clarinet in my middle school band. I continued playing clarinet in high school where I joined the Charles B. Aycock Marching Band, concert band, and jazz band. I was a junior in high school when I knew that I wanted to share my passion for music with others and become a music teacher. I continued my education at East Carolina University where I obtained my Bachelor of Music, Music Education. While at ECU, I studied clarinet with private instructor, Dr. Douglas Moore-Monroe. I played in many ensembles such as the ECU Marching Pirates, ECU Symphonic Band, ECU Wind Ensemble, and ECU Jazz Band.
I believe that every student should have the opportunity to learn about, experiment with, and fall in love with music. Music gives us healthy ways to cope with life, spark imagination, think critically, and learn teamwork and collaboration. In music class, you will find us singing, playing instruments, and doing a lot of moving! I hope to begin shaping a life-long appreciation for music in every student!
Please feel free to send me an email any time. I will get back to you within 24 hours of initial correspondence.
