Hello! I am one of the Reading Recovery teachers at Anderson Creek.  I love helping boys and girls learn to read and write.  I have been a teacher at Anderson Creek for 24 years.  I began my teaching career as a second grade teacher before transitioning to a Reading Recovery teacher.  I have taught Reading Recovery for the past 16 years. I am currently serving as one of the Reading Recovery Teacher Leaders for the county.  Therefore, I spend part of my day serving students in Reading Recovery and the other part of my day coaching and training Reading Recovery teachers throughout the county.

I am proud to call Harnett County home.  I grew up in Harnett County and graduated from Western Harnett High School.  I completed my Bachelor's degree at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill...GO HEELS!!  I recieved  by Master's degreee from Fayetteville State University.  I have also earned my National Board Certification in the area of Literacy.  I am blessed to be able to work with young students, as they begin their journey of learning to read and write.  It brings me great joy to watch them as they learn and grow.

Jessica Smith

Hi! I was born and raised in North Carolina and attended North Carolina State University, in Raleigh. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Communication – Interpersonal and my Masters in Special Education – Learning Disabilities.

My teaching career started over 20 years ago, and I’ve held a variety of roles in education through the years. I began my career as a Special Education Teacher in Wake County. Eleven years ago, I started a new position as a Behavior Specialist for Harnett County Schools.

My current role is my favorite – Reading Recovery Teacher! I have served in this position for the last nine years, at several schools in Harnett County. This is my sixth year teaching Reading Recovery at Anderson Creek Primary. It is the place to be! I love the students, staff and being a Reading Recovery Teacher! I am passionate about working with students and teaching them the gift of reading.

In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, attending concerts and sporting events, crafting, painting and gardening.
