"Every child deserves a champion; an adult who will never give up on them, who understands the power of connection and insists that they become the best they can possibly be." -Rita Pierson. I am honored and excited to be your child’s Champion this school year.
I am a “career change” teacher. I graduated from Fayetteville State University, with a Bachelors degree in Business Administration. While working in the business industry, I didn’t find fulfillment in selling products I didn’t believe in or by managing businesses that only cared about profits. I knew I had a higher calling. After much thought and deliberation, I went back to school to earn a Master’s in Education. I truly believe that being an undergraduate business major helped prepare me for the classroom just as much as my training in education has.
In business, the most important people are your clients (students) and your business (classroom) has to run efficiently to make sure your clients are benefiting (learning and growing academically, socially and emotionally) from how you operate your business(classroom). Businesses thrive from process improvement. You must continually tweak things (differentiation, scaffolding, intervention) to allow your business (classroom) to run smoothly (classroom management). Most importantly, you have to build positive relationships to grow your business and increase profits ("Kids don't learn from people they don't like.”-Rita Pierson). Being an educator is the business I am meant to manage.
This will be my 7th year teaching in Harnett County and 8th year in the classroom. I look forward to the successes we will share and the challenges we will overcome this school year.
